You’re Not Underperforming. You’re Under-Evaluated.
You’ve been prescribed medications. You’re done therapy.
Not crisis level. Not falling apart. But cognitively dulled. Functioning at 70% when you know your system supports more.
Here’s what most psychiatry misses: medication without biological & spiritual context is compensation, not correction. Standard 15 minute med checks do not assess thyroid function, nutrient status, inflammatory load, or hormonal disruption.
That’s not a limitation of psychiatry. That’s a limitation of how most psychiatry is practiced.

LAUREN WILLIAMS, M.D.
Meet YourHolistic Psychiatrist in Austin, TX
Hello, I’m Dr. Williams. If you’ve been feeling anxious, foggy, or not quite like yourself, I want you to know, you’re not alone.
I’m a board-certified psychiatrist who works with people who are often doing everything right but still don’t feel well. My work focuses on what’s happening beneath the surface—from hormone shifts and gut health to past stress your body is still holding onto.
I intentionally keep my practice small so I can really get to know you. We’ll examine what’s going on together and find simple, thoughtful ways to help you feel better—in a way that feels safe, honest, and doable.
About Anima Integrative Psychiatry
I started Anima because I was tired of watching brilliant, capable people get reduced to a list of symptoms and rushed prescriptions.
Too many people—especially those who “keep it all together”—were slipping through the cracks of a system that rushes, numbs, and oversimplifies. I wanted to offer something different, something honest, something that actually works.
Anima means “soul” in Latin—and that’s what this work is really about. Your energy, your story, your biology—it all matters. And it all plays a role in how you feel.
This clinic was built for those who are burned out, anxious, or feeling off, but know in their gut that masking symptoms isn’t the answer. I work with a small group of clients one-on-one, using tools from psychiatry, functional medicine, energy work, and trauma healing.
If you’re craving real answers, if you’re tired of feeling dismissed, if you’re ready to understand what your body’s been trying to say…welcome, I’m so thankful you’re here.

Holistic Psychiatry: Frequently Asked Questions
What is holistic psychiatry?
Holistic psychiatry looks at the whole you — your brain, body, and biofield. Instead of asking, “What pill fits this symptom?” we ask, “What’s actually causing this?”
We combine the best of conventional medicine with functional testing, nutrition, mind-body therapies, and energetic healing. It’s personalized, science-backed, and deeply intuitive.
We treat your anxiety, depression, burnout, and brain fog by addressing root imbalances—like inflammation, hormone disruption, trauma, or gut dysfunction. Healing isn’t about masking symptoms. It’s about transformation at the cellular and energetic level.
What do holistic psychiatrists do?
Holistic psychiatrists treat mental health by looking at the full picture — including biology, lifestyle, trauma, and energy. Instead of just prescribing medication, they uncover root causes like inflammation, gut issues, or hormonal imbalances and create personalized care plans that may include therapy, nutrition, natural medicine, or functional testing.
What is the holistic model of psychiatry?
The holistic model of psychiatry views the mind and body as deeply connected. It prioritizes personalized care, whole-body diagnostics, and treatments that support healing from the inside out — including lifestyle changes, functional medicine, and trauma-informed therapies alongside traditional psychiatry.
What is a holistic treatment for mental health?
A holistic treatment for mental health could include a mix of therapies like psychiatric care, targeted supplements, hormone or gut testing, ketamine-assisted therapy, and nervous system regulation. The goal is to support long-term healing, not just symptom relief.
